Kokedama & Macrame Workshop (7/26/2018)

Come to The Makery and learn all about the art of kokedama! Originating in Japan, kokedama in English means "moss ball". It is a ball of soil, covered with moss, in which an ornamental plant grows. The plant is suspended in the air with the use of string or twine. Similar to bonsai and popular in Japan, kokedama bring greenery indoors in a lovely and whimsical way. We will use sturdy houseplants requiring medium light, perfect for hanging at a bright window. And that's not all....there is no better way to show off your kokedama but in a Macrame Plant Hanger, don't you agree? You will learn the ornamental craft of knotting cords in a pattern to create the perfect dwelling place for your new greenery.

All materials to be provided include:

1) Succulent plant
2) Special soil mixture for kokedama
3) Organic sphagnum sheet moss
